The Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) has honored the Ashanti regional Minister for the excellent commitment showcased towards the development of the region since his appointment.

This happened on Monday, when a delegation from the Ashanti regional chapter of the Council, led by the Executive Director, Obenfo Nana Akwasi Gyetuah paid a courtesy call on him at the Ashanti Regional Cordinating Council.

Among the delegation were Esther Questwood (National Administrator, GNACOPS), Rev. Owusu Ansah (Regional Board Chairman, GNACOPS), Edward Akansu-Ise (Regional Coordinator, GNACOPS) among others.

Obenfo Nana Akwasi Gyetuah presented a citation to him to symbolize the honour and also in recognition of his appointment into the enviable office by President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

Per the content of the citation, the council believes Dr. Frank Amoakohene has resuscitated hope and brought optimism to the region.

GNACOPS has asserted that, the Minister’s dedication, vision, and passion for develop are what has earned him respect from various stakeholders.

Courtesy Call

At the meeting, the Executive Director of GNACOPS expressed that aside honouring him with the citation, the courtesy call was to officially make known to him the presence of the council in the region by formally introducing themselves to him.

Still in his remarks, Obenfo Gyetuah thanked government for incorporating private schools into the Free SHS program, marking a significant expansion of the policy.

On the selection of 25 private schools for the pilot phase, Obenfo Gyetuah said the council is in talks with the Ministry of Education to increase the number of schools integrated.

He assured that the leadership of GNACOPS is ready to offer every support and collaboration that government needs for the enhancement of private schools in Ghana.

The Ashanti regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene remarked that no government can survive without the participation of the private sector.

He mentioned that President John Dramani Mahama has at heart the welfare of private schools and for that reason incorporated them into the Free SHS program.

He assured them of a 100 support of the NDC-led government.
