Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a jumbo donation of food items and learning materials to a little over thousand children of 20 orphanage homes in Ashanti region.
It happened on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024 at the Kumasi Heroes park.
2,000 bags of rice, 2,040 gallons of cooking oil, 2,400 pieces of tinned mackerel, 10,000 exercise books, 1,000 pens and pencils, 400 pairs of brand new shoes, toffees, biscuits and assorted drinks were donated for distribution.
Beneficiary institutions were; Patmos Residential Home for Children, Heartsmile Orphanage Home, All Nations Charity Home, Trinity House of Grace, King Jesus Charity Home, Adom Needy Care Foundation, Cherub Orphanage, Step-by-step Shelter Home, Mampong Babies Home, Beads of Life Charity Home, etc.
Aside the above-mentioned, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh gave each home GHS 1,000 and also paid expenses covering the loading, off-loading and transportation of the items to the various homes.
A colorful presentation was done by Nana Ama Tima Boakye, Deputy CEO for the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation on behalf of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
In her address at the occasion, Nana Tima Boakye described the support as a trait that is inherent in Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a.k.a “Dr. NAPO”.
She recalled a litany of similar support done by Dr. NAPO to churches, schools, individuals etc.
Memorable among them was when he dinned and celebrated his birthday with a little over 1,500 children at the Kumasi jubilee park this year.
Nana Tima Boakye described Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as a generous and a zealous giver “and will also continue to support the needy and vulnerable in society”.
On behalf of the orphanage homes, Bishop Kofi Owusu, Founder of King Jesus Charity Home thanked Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for the gesture.
He underscored the act as unprecedented.
Premised on the foregoing, he pledged to support Dr. NAPO and the NPP with prayers for the victory of the party come 2024 general elections.
