Ghana’s hardworking Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, has signed the official Book of Condolence at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in the United States, in honour of the late Her Excellency Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The solemn act took place on January 6, 2026, as global leaders and diplomats continue to pay tribute following her death on December 30, 2025, in Dhaka.

Ambassador Smith’s signing at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington underscores Ghana’s respect and solidarity with the people of Bangladesh during this period of mourning.

The Ghanaian envoy also seized the occasion to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the United States, further reinforcing diplomatic ties between Ghana and Bangladesh.
