Ghana’s ambition to become a continental leader in digital innovation and policy received a major boost on Thursday when the Chief Executive Officer of Media General, Mrs. Beatrice Agyemang, led a delegation to engage with the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), on potential collaboration.

The meeting, held in Accra, centered on aligning efforts between the Ministry and Media General ahead of the maiden Africa Digital Festival, a major Pan-African event slated for December 15–20, 2025, in Accra.

The initiative forms part of growing private sector interest in contributing to Ghana’s digital development agenda.
Mrs. Agyemang noted that Media General views the festival not only as a media or tech event but as a platform for continental dialogue on digital transformation, one that can place Ghana at the center of Africa’s digital future.

The festival, according to Mr. Sena Quashie, Digital Manager at Media General, will feature five days of policy forums, innovation showcases, and strategic engagements with key stakeholders, including digital ministers, tech leaders, and content creators from across Africa.
Quashie emphasized that Ghana has a rare opportunity to position itself as a digital policy hub, especially with strong collaboration between government and forward-looking private institutions.
Hon. Samuel Nartey George welcomed the proposed partnership, describing it as timely and aligned with the Ministry’s own vision to establish Ghana as a thought leader in Africa’s digital ecosystem.
He revealed that the Ministry is developing a flagship initiative, the African Digital Davos to convene decision-makers, tech innovators, and global digital actors for high-level dialogue in 2026.
The Minister expressed optimism about working with Media General and encouraged the team to submit a detailed proposal to formalize the collaboration. He also noted that 2026 will be a landmark year as the National Communications Authority (NCA) celebrates its 30th anniversary, with several international ICT events scheduled for Ghana.
The discussion also delved into issues such as the regulation of digital content, the future of broadcasting, and sustainable strategies for managing Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). Hon. George reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to raising regulatory standards while promoting innovation and excellence in Ghana’s media and digital sectors.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to work together, beginning with the Africa Digital Festival in December 2025 and extending into broader Ministry-led programmes in 2026 and beyond.
This strategic alignment between the Ministry and Media General signals a growing recognition of the role collaborative platforms can play in shaping Africa’s digital future with Ghana leading from the front.
