The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has extended his thoughts and prayers to members of the Ghana Armed Forces currently serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), following reports of injuries among peacekeepers in the mission area.

In a public statement shared on his official Facebook page, the minister expressed deep concern for Ghanaian soldiers deployed in Lebanon and wished those injured or traumatised a swift recovery.

He also praised the dedication and professionalism of Ghanaian troops serving abroad.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the gallant men and women of the Ghana Armed Forces serving with UNIFIL in Lebanon,” Mr. George said.

The minister recalled a previous visit to the mission area in 2017, where he witnessed firsthand the commitment and high standards displayed by Ghanaian officers working far from home.

According to him, the experience left a lasting impression of the critical role Ghana’s military personnel play in international peacekeeping operations.

“My last visit in 2017 showed me first hand the outstanding work our officers do far from home. I pray for speedy recovery for the injured and traumatised. Godspeed,” he added.

Ghana has long been a contributor to global peacekeeping missions, with troops deployed in various conflict zones under the United Nations.

The Ghana Armed Forces contingent in Lebanon forms part of the multinational peacekeeping force tasked with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and supporting stability along the border between Lebanon and Israel.

Officials and citizens alike have continued to express support for the Ghanaian troops serving abroad, acknowledging the sacrifices they make in maintaining peace and security beyond the country’s borders.
