The controversy surrounding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s promise to introduce a credit scoring system if he becomes president has taken a new turn.
The vice presidential candidate’s communication director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has provided further clarification on the proposal, sparking both interest and skepticism.
Initially, Dr. Bawumia’s promise to enable Ghanaians to buy phones and pay in installments through a credit scoring system was met with widespread criticism on social media, with many doubting its feasibility.
However, Aboagye has expanded on the proposal, stating that the credit scoring system would not only apply to phone purchases but also to other essential items like TVs, sofas, home appliances, and more. According to Aboagye, Ghanaians would be able to acquire these items on credit and pay as little as 1 or 2 cedis per month.
This clarification has reignited the debate, with some Ghanaians expressing cautious optimism while others remain unconvinced.
