In a significant show of solidarity and humanitarian concern, the Government of Ghana has delivered emergency food aid to the suffering people of Palestine.

The donation, spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama, consists of 40 metric tonnes of nutritious, Made-in-Ghana chocolate and cocoa-based products from the Cocoa Processing Company.

The move was announced by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on his official Facebook page.

The Minister emphasized that Ghana’s action goes beyond charity—it is a principled stand for justice, peace, and human dignity.

“In a significant development, Ghana today presented humanitarian aid to the starving and distressed people of the State of Palestine who desperately need assistance,” the minister said in his statement on his page.

According to the statement by Hon. Okudzeto, President Mahama used the occasion to renew Ghana’s firm position on the escalating conflict in Gaza.

He called on Israel to immediately end what he described as a “massacre,” and urged Hamas to unconditionally release all hostages. The president also reiterated Ghana’s unwavering support for the internationally recognized two-state solution as the only sustainable path to lasting peace.

“President Mahama renewed Ghana’s demand for Israel to end the massacre, the unconditional release of hostages by Hamas, strict adherence to the two-state solution, and a sincere commitment to ensure humanitarian aid reaches the Palestinian people,” the statement added.

Ghana reaffirmed its longstanding recognition of the State of Palestine, which dates back to 1988, and signaled that the country’s foreign policy will continue to be guided by conscience, compassion, and a sense of global responsibility.

“Ghana’s foreign policy will be defined by not just what we can negotiate for ourselves but by what we can also share with others—particularly with those in dire need of our compassion and our good conscience,” Ablakwa noted.

This humanitarian action has been welcomed by international observers as a meaningful contribution from Ghana, blending tangible support with a strong diplomatic call for justice and peace in the Middle East.
