The Government of Ghana has deported three Israeli nationals in a reciprocal action following what it describes as the ill-treatment and unjustified deportation of three Ghanaian citizens by Israeli authorities.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three Israelis were removed from the country shortly after their arrival in Accra on Wednesday.

The move, officials say, was necessary to signal Ghana’s displeasure over the handling of its nationals abroad and to assert the government’s commitment to protecting the dignity of its citizens.

In response to the escalating diplomatic tension, the Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Embassy of the State of Israel was summoned to the Ministry.

The Israeli Ambassador, currently outside the country, was unavailable for the meeting. Despite the firm actions taken by both sides, the two governments have reportedly agreed to work towards an amicable resolution of the dispute.

Ghana reiterated in its release that it remains committed to maintaining strong, respectful relations with all friendly nations. The government emphasized that just as it strives to treat foreign nationals in Ghana with dignity, it expects the same standard of treatment for Ghanaians abroad.

The Ministry reaffirmed that safeguarding the rights and dignity of Ghanaian citizens both at home and overseas remains a core responsibility of the state.
