The Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Gyamfi, has announced a renewed commitment to strategic defence cooperation between Ghana and the United Kingdom, following a high-level visit from a UK delegation last week.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, Hon. Gyamfi disclosed that he had the honour of welcoming the British delegation at the Black Star Square.

The visiting team was led by Ben Merrick, the UK’s Director of Defence and Security at the Ministry of Defence, alongside Air Vice Marshal Mark Flewin, the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Military Strategy).

They were joined by the UK Defence Attaché to Ghana and other senior officials from the UK High Commission.

The visit served as an opportunity for formal introductions and to initiate discussions aimed at deepening collaboration between the two nations’ defence establishments.

According to Hon. Gyamfi, the engagements focused not only on strengthening bilateral relations but also on exploring broader regional cooperation across West Africa.

“We look forward to strengthening our shared commitment to peace, security, and strategic cooperation,” the Deputy Minister stated.

This visit signals the ongoing effort by both Ghana and the UK to enhance military diplomacy and regional stability in a period marked by emerging security challenges across the West African subregion.
