In a significant diplomatic development, Ghana and Norway have entered into a Political Consultations Agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral relations across multiple strategic sectors.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who announced the development on his official Facebook page, hailed the agreement as a milestone in Ghana–Norway relations.

β€œI commend Hon. Γ…smund GrΓΈver Aukrust, Norway’s Minister of International Development, for working exceptionally hard with my incredible team to make this possible,” Ablakwa wrote.

The new agreement sets the stage for intensified cooperation in a wide range of areas including oil and gas, trade facilitation, education, agribusiness, artificial intelligence, maritime security, the blue economy, and intelligence sharing.

According to Hon. Ablakwa, both countries are also reaffirming their commitment to global leadership by co-chairing the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy; a bold step toward addressing climate and marine challenges on a global scale.

The signing of this agreement reflects growing momentum in Ghana’s international diplomacy and marks what Ablakwa described as β€œgreat times for Ghana–Norway relations.”
