In a heartfelt message shared on his official Facebook page, the former President described the late Mrs. Rawlings as a “role model for women in Ghana and across Africa”, highlighting her lifelong dedication to gender advocacy and women’s empowerment.

“Her commitment to the growth of the women’s movement in Ghana and Africa can never be forgotten,” President Akufo-Addo noted, praising her for her work as Founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement, which advanced the cause of women’s rights and social development.

He further recalled Mrs. Rawlings’ warmth and sense of humour, describing her as “a warm and affectionate woman, with a good sense of humour and excellent company.”

On behalf of his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and their family, the former President extended his deepest condolences to the Rawlings family, particularly to Mrs. Rawlings’ children.

“Rebecca, my children and I, extend our deepest condolences to her children and family on this sad occasion. May her soul rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty, until the Last Day of the Resurrection, when we shall meet again,” he concluded.
