The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Fatima Maada Bio, today welcomed the UN Women Head of Office in Sierra Leone, Madam Setcheme Jeronine Mongbo, and her team to her office for a high-level engagement focused on enhancing collaboration.

In a statement shared on her official Facebook page, the First Lady described the meeting as “very productive,” noting that discussions centered around strengthening cooperation between her office and UN Women in support of gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives in Sierra Leone.

“We held a very productive discussion on ways to strengthen cooperation between UN Women and my office,” she wrote.

The meeting also marked a moment of congratulations, as Madam Mongbo extended her warm wishes to the First Lady on her recent election as President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

The First Lady expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the OAFLAD mission across the continent.

Her new role as OAFLAD President positions her to spearhead advocacy and policy efforts aimed at addressing key developmental issues affecting women and children in Africa, including education, health, and gender-based violence.

The visit reflects growing collaboration between the Office of the First Lady and development partners, particularly in leveraging strategic partnerships to promote inclusive and sustainable development in Sierra Leone and beyond.
