The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Maada Bio, has commended graduates of the College of Digital Excellence (CODE) for their achievements, describing them as a shining example of the nation’s investment in human capital development.

In a message shared on her official Facebook page, Madam Bio expressed pride and admiration for the “bright, determined graduates,” particularly young women who are ready to contribute to Sierra Leone’s digital future.

“It was a profound honour to address the bright, determined graduates of the College of Digital Excellence (CODE) today,” she wrote.
“Seeing so many brilliant young minds, especially our young women, ready to contribute to our nation’s digital future is a true inspiration. Congratulations to every single graduate! Your hard work has paid off, and you are now the tangible results of His Excellency’s flagship Human Capital Development programme.”

The First Lady highlighted the importance of education as a cornerstone of President Julius Maada Bio’s national development agenda, emphasizing that investing in learning is key to producing skilled, empowered, and resilient citizens who can drive Sierra Leone’s progress.
She reaffirmed her personal commitment to advancing girls’ education through her “Hands Off Our Girls” campaign, which combats child marriage and gender-based violence. “Education is their most powerful shield,” she stated. “When a girl is educated, she is empowered to make informed choices and become a leader.”
Madam Bio also used the occasion to raise awareness about the growing threat of drug abuse, particularly the use of the synthetic drug “kush,” which she described as a battle for the nation’s future. “We cannot lose our youth to substance abuse after investing in their minds. It is our collective duty to protect and guide them, ensuring their potential is realised for the good of Salone,” she urged.
The College of Digital Excellence (CODE) is one of Sierra Leone’s emerging institutions promoting digital literacy and innovation, aligning with the government’s vision of using technology and education to transform the country’s economy.
