First Ever Stakeholder Consultation Meeting on Volunteered Local Review (VLR): Banjul City Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe Writes

As Mayor of the city of Banjul, it is both an honor and a privilege to embark on this significant journey together with the people of Banjul.

Today marks a pivotal moment in our city’s development as we gather to review our progress, assess our challenges, and most importantly, to seek the valuable input of Banjulians to shape the future of our dear city, Banjul.

The insights, suggestions, and inputs coming from this forum are not only welcome but essential to the success of this endeavor. Together, we will chart a common course that leads to a more sustainable, resilient, and prosperous Banjul.

Let us seize this opportunity to forge stronger partnerships, to foster innovation, and to build a city that we can all be proud of. Our priorities must be guided by the principles of equity, sustainability, and resilience. We must continue to invest in local infrastructure like Technical and Vocational Education Center  (TIBET)  health centers, capacity building initiatives as well as microfinance for women and girls to create opportunities for all Banjulians to thrive.

I look forward to our discussions tomorrow and to the positive outcomes that will undoubtedly emerge from our collective efforts. Thank you once again for your commitment and dedication to the future of Banjul.

To our partner – The UN Habitat, we are grateful. To the UN Resident Cordinator, UNICEF, UNDP, WFP, Gambia immigration department, Police, TANGO and all other stakeholders thank you for your insights. We truly appreciate.
