Yesterday, Hon. Savannah Maziya, Minister for Information, Communications and Technology, delivered a compelling keynote address at the ICSE 6th Annual International SHERQ Summit.

Themed “Sustainable Transformation: Innovating Business Systems for a Resilient Future,” the summit convened key stakeholders from government, the private sector, and municipalities in a joint commitment to advancing sustainable practices and resilient business systems.

The annual summit serves as a vital platform for cross-sector dialogue on sustainability standards, environmental and social responsibility, and the future of business systems amid growing global challenges.

It draws experts and leaders tackling critical issues such as climate change, pollution, health and safety, biodiversity loss, waste management, and social inclusion.

In her address, Minister Maziya urged leaders across sectors to view change not as a threat but as an engine for progress.

“In the next ten years, we will see more change than in the last forty,” she said. “If we don’t view change management as a tool to cope, thrive, and survive, we risk becoming irrelevant. Progress demands more than technology. It requires sustainability, ethical business decisions, fair labour practices, and the minimisation of waste. Above all, it requires trust. In Government, as in business, trust is our most valuable currency. Without it, people disengage, and the stability of a nation is at risk.”

The minister’s remarks underscored the urgent need for integrated and ethical approaches to business transformation, rooted in transparency, innovation, and community trust. She called on organizations, institutions, and government bodies to lead boldly and collaboratively in reimagining systems for a more sustainable future.

The SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk and Quality) Summit continues to be a driving force in shaping inclusive, forward-looking policies and practices that address both immediate and long-term global risks—emphasizing that the path to resilience is through innovation, partnership, and shared responsibility.
