Minister for Energy, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing maintenance works at the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant during a working visit to the site.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook page, the Minister commended engineers and technical staff for their commitment to the scheduled maintenance, which forms part of a broader effort to upgrade Ghana’s gas infrastructure.

“The Ghana Gas Infrastructure project, a key component of our energy structure, is undergoing a scheduled shutdown to augment production and increase its processing capacity,” Hon. Jinapor stated.

According to the Minister, once the maintenance and upgrade works are completed, the plant’s output is expected to increase from 100 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per day to 120 million mmscf per day — a 20% boost in capacity.

He encouraged the workers to sustain the current momentum to ensure the project is completed on time, and reaffirmed government support for the initiative.

“I assured the workers on site of the support of President John Dramani Mahama and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition,” he added.

The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant plays a central role in Ghana’s domestic gas supply chain, and the current upgrade is expected to enhance the country’s energy security and industrial capacity.
