Ghana’s Minister for Energy, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has called for deeper collaboration among governments, private sector players, and development institutions to drive Africa’s energy transition, emphasizing the need for a united front in achieving a sustainable and inclusive energy future for the continent.

The Minister made these remarks as the Guest Speaker at the Future of Energy Conference (FEC) 2025, organized by the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) and its partners. The conference, held annually, serves as a platform for critical dialogue and partnership across the energy landscape in Africa.

This year’s theme focused on Africa’s financing needs and the strategic pathways required to achieve a just energy transition—one that balances development goals with environmental responsibility.

In his keynote address, Minister Jinapor highlighted the pivotal roles each stakeholder must play in transforming Africa’s energy sector.

“Governments in Africa must provide clear policy direction, regulatory stability and predictability,” he stated. “The private sector must bring innovation, efficiency, and investment. And our multilateral partners must help de-risk projects and expand concessional and blended finance mechanisms.”

He further stressed that only through sincere and strategic collaboration can Africa overcome the complex challenges of energy poverty and climate change.
The Minister also issued a collective challenge to governments, businesses, investors, and civil society to “collaborate, innovate, and act decisively” to build an energy future that is not only sustainable but equitable.
“Together, we shall light up Africa!” he concluded with optimism.
The FEC 2025 attracted energy leaders, policymakers, investors, and civil society organizations from across the continent, underscoring the growing momentum behind Africa’s energy transformation agenda.
