Officials of Energy Commission have certified 233 electricians who sat for the November/December Electrical Wiring Certification Examination in the year 2024.

Their certificates were awarded to them on Tuesday, 8th April, 2025 in Kumasi at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, marking their successful completion of training received under the Electrical Wiring Certification program.

It was the 22nd award ceremony, held under theme: “Enhancing Electrical Safety and Compliance Through Technology”.

A young electrician called Oppong Gladys was awarded as the Overall Best Female candidate.

The foregoing aligns with the Electrical Wiring Regulations ((L.I. 2008) which are focused on enhancing the skills of electricians and ensuring the use of approved electrical materials.

Energy Commission of Ghana has embraced various technological advancements to modernize regulatory frameworks and strengthen compliance.

In his Keynote address during the occasion, Ntelengi Bilenman- Customer Service Officer for Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) said preventing electrical hazards before they occur through compliance and certification is key to protecting lives and properties.

This mobile application replaced traditional paper-based documentation methods, allowing electricians to digitally capture and store installation details, while certified inspectors input their inspection and testing results.

The system generates a unique token, streamlining the certification process and making service application paperless.

“With the tools at your disposal, including mobile applications like ICCApp, you have the power to create safer environments not just for today, but for generations to come. By embracing technology, you are not only enhancing safety but also paving the way for more sustainable and efficient electrical systems that will serve Ghana’s growing demand for electricity”, he advised the graduands.

He also urged them to remember that “compliance and safety are not just about following laws; they are about protecting those who trust us with their homes, businesses, and lives.”

Addressing the media on the sidelines, Fred Agyei-Brobbey (Senior Officer-Electrical Wiring, Kumasi) underscored that the training has been impactful since its inception.
