Ghana’s Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh participated in two important panel discussions held at the on-going CERA Week in Houston, Texas, USA organised by S&P Global.
The first, on the topic “Post-COP28 path forward for loss and damage” and the second, “Africa’s energy future: opportunities and constraints”.
On the first discussion, he indicated that, developing nations must begin to reflect the call to take their destinies into their own hands, especially as the subject matter has seen less commitment from developed nations.
This according to him is absolutely critical, “as we work to smoothen the rough edges in the advancement of issues that bother on mitigation and adaptation policies”.
On the second important subject of Africa’s energy future, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh intimated that, the energy transition presents Africans with an opportunity to collaborate fully, to develop our natural resources.
Africa, he said, must rally for the development of our rich resources and the relevant infrastructure to ensure the energy sustainability of our continent.
“We continue to use the opportunity presented by these platforms to position our country strategically for the needed investment and also, continue to be a heard voice in the African advocacy for global energy security”.
