Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and a leading contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race, has announced his intention to formally file his nomination forms on Wednesday morning.

In a brief statement shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia addressed members of the NPP, reaffirming his commitment to the party and its values.

β€œDear members of our cherished New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom), I would be submitting and filing my nomination forms tomorrow Thursday morning at the Party headquarters,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia’s expected filing comes as the NPP intensifies preparations for its presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections. His bid is widely seen as a significant moment in the internal race, as he seeks to lead the party after serving as Vice President.

The filing is expected to attract significant attention from party supporters, political analysts, and the media, as the NPP works toward electing a flagbearer to succeed former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whose tenure concluded in January 2025.

More details are expected to follow after the formal submission at the party’s national headquarters in Accra.
