Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a prominent figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a hopeful for the party’s 2028 presidential flagbearer slot, welcomed Okwawu United Football Club and esteemed traditional leaders to Rock City over the weekend.

The visit, which brought together the management, technical team, and players of Okwawu United FC, was graced by the presence of the Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng III, and the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.

The occasion served as a symbolic meeting point between sports, tradition, and leadership, all pillars of the Kwahu identity.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Acheampong expressed heartfelt appreciation for the visit and the camaraderie shown by the team.

“I was deeply touched by their warm gesture of presenting me with autographed replica jerseys, which I will forever treasure,” he wrote.

He praised the football club’s continued dedication to discipline and excellence, highlighting its role in nurturing youth talent and promoting Kwahu’s legacy.

“As Kwahu grows stronger in unity and purpose, it gives me immense joy to see our traditional leadership, our sports institutions, and our youth working hand in hand to build pride for our community and beyond,” Dr. Acheampong added.

The visit also marks a significant moment as Okwawu United FC celebrates its 50th anniversary, a milestone being commemorated under the banner of #Okwawu50.

The club, which once competed in Ghana’s top-flight football and remains a symbol of Kwahu pride, is undergoing renewed efforts to restore its historic stature.

Dr. Acheampong, who has been closely linked with the socio-economic development of the Kwahu area, used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to grassroots empowerment and cultural preservation.

“Together, let us continue to lift Kwahu, Asase Aban, and Ghana to higher heights,” he concluded.

The event ended with renewed calls for community collaboration in sports, tradition, and leadership, all aimed at propelling Kwahu forward on both the national and continental stage.
