The Resident Pastor of Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Pastor Joshua Obeng, has expressed concern over what he describes as a growing leadership crisis in Ghana, attributing the problem to inadequate preparation and weak leadership qualities among many office holders.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Pastor Obeng said many individuals struggle in both public and private roles because they assume leadership positions without the necessary training and character development.
“Ghana is facing a serious leadership crisis,” he said, noting that the challenge extends beyond politics to churches, corporate institutions and other sectors of society.

As part of efforts to help address the situation, Pastor Obeng announced that CCC has partnered with renowned Ghanaian theologian, motivational speaker and Founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Pastor Mensa Otabil, to organize an annual leadership development programme dubbed the Start Well Conference.
The 2026 edition of the conference is scheduled for Thursday, January 22, and Friday, January 23, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the CCC auditorium in Kumasi, located behind the Tech Police Station.

A leadership summit will also be held at the same venue on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
According to Pastor Obeng, the Start Well Conference is designed to equip participants with practical ideas and insights to help them begin the year purposefully and achieve success in their various endeavours in 2026.
The event will also feature gospel ministration by award-winning Ghanaian gospel singer and songwriter, Minister Joe Mettle.
Pastor Obeng further called on churches across the country to strengthen discipleship programmes that emphasize leadership and character development, anchored in Christ-like values.
“Imagine a nation with leaders who exhibit Christ-like leadership qualities at the helm of affairs. Ghana will be better off,” he concluded.
