Former Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, lauding him as a trailblazing innovator and a compassionate leader whose influence extended far beyond the pulpit.

In a message shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Bawumia described Apostle Safo as a “pioneering Ghanaian innovator” and the “founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission,” who dedicated his life to both spiritual and industrial transformation in Ghana.

“Apostle Safo served Ghana beyond the capacity of a religious leader. He pioneered indigenous innovations and forcefully inspired an industrial spirit amongst Ghanaians,” the former Vice President wrote. “He was also dedicated to improving the lives of the less privileged in society, as witnessed in his celebrated numerous philanthropic endeavours.”

Known affectionately as the “Star of Africa,” Apostle Safo Kantanka gained national recognition for his remarkable contributions to science and technology, including the development of locally made vehicles and machinery through the Kantanka Group. His efforts to promote self-reliance and innovation became symbols of Ghanaian ingenuity and potential.

Dr. Bawumia also offered a personal reflection, recalling Apostle Safo’s warmth and wisdom. “As a religious leader, his open arms received me. Anytime I called on him, I departed his presence with lasting words of encouragement and wisdom,” he shared.

Concluding his tribute, Dr. Bawumia extended condolences on behalf of his family to the bereaved family, the Kristo Asafo Mission, and all who are mourning. He called on Ghanaians to carry forward Apostle Safo’s legacy by embracing local solutions and serving their communities.

“May his legacy continue to endure and inspire future generations to believe in our domestic solutions, serve their communities, and put Ghana first,” he stated.

The passing of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka marks the end of an era for a man whose life’s work spanned religion, innovation, and philanthropy, leaving an indelible mark on Ghana’s history.
