5th China-Africa Local Government Forum; Banjul City Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe Writes…
It is with great pleasure and honor that I attended the 5th China-Africa Local Government Forum, hosted in the vibrant city of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. The Gambian delegation, led by Honorable Hamat Bah, together with Madam Ramou Sarr, the Governor of LRR, and myself, represented The Gambia admirably. The conference addressed some of the most pressing issues facing local governments, with a focus on green and digital innovation, industrial cooperation, and personnel training.
I am pleased to report that the conference, which was attended by representatives from almost all African countries, has opened new opportunities for Banjul. I am grateful to the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) for their invitation and hospitality. Additionally, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the People’s Republic of China, through the Chinese Ambassador in Gambia, for their unwavering support to the people of Banjul in particular, and The Gambia in general.
My sincere thanks also go to the City of Nanning for always supporting Banjul, especially during the challenging times of the COVID pandemic.
