Queen of Atonsu, Otumfuor Yere Nana Abena Achiaa has notified that river gods of the land within her jurisdiction are unhappy with the disposal of residential sewage into water bodies by some residents.

She hinted in her address delivered at a public gathering held on Saturday, 30th November, 2024 to mark the celebration of her 13th anniversary that the deities have severally spoken to her through fetish priests on the matter.

The Queen said in every encounter, the gods registered their displeasure against the act and have urged her to take action against perpetrators.

Nana Abena Achiaa told the gathering that, the discharge of liquid waste from houses has adversely affected water quality owing to the high level of pollutants which pose great risk to human health and aquatic life.
She exposed that perpetrators are residents of houses that are situated close to water bodies, explaining that such households have their liquid waste pipelines connected directly into rivers and streams.

After issuing a stern warning, she vowed to take action against such persons and households if they persist in the inaction.
She said she will not tolerate such acts and will ensure they are dealt with.
Nana Abena Achiaa underscored in her address that promotion of sanitation and the development of Atonsu community is of much concern to her and will therefore see to it that there are realised.
