The Asokwa Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Rev. Benjamin Fosu Nkrumah, has strongly rejected allegations by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia plans to hire macho men to foment violence to his advantage in the party’s internal presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

In an exclusive interview with this medium, Rev. Fosu Nkrumah described the allegations as false, reckless, and a calculated attempt to taint the credibility of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s internal democratic process, warning that such claims could heighten unnecessary tension within the party.

He dismissed as “absolute fiction” Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s assertion that Dr. Bawumia, the 2028 flagbearer hopeful intends to deploy 50 macho men at every polling centre across the country to influence the outcome of the primaries.

“Fifty macho men at every polling centre? That is a blatant lie. It is not only untrue, it is illogical. How do you disrupt an internal party election across all 276 constituencies with such a story? And how can he finance it?

This allegation has no basis in reality,” he stated.
The Asokwa Chairman admonished the outspoken politician to verify intelligence from his informants before making such explosive claims public, stressing that politics must be anchored in truth and responsibility.
“You cannot rely on hearsay and unverified information and then throw dangerous allegations into the public space. That kind of conduct damages the party and misleads the public,” he cautioned.
Rev. Fosu Nkrumah urged party faithful and the general public not to take the allegations seriously, arguing that Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has developed a reputation for peddling sensational but unsubstantiated accusations.
“He speculates, he guesses, and then he frames allegations without facts,” he said.
He further noted that such behavior is unbecoming of a politician of Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s stature and only serves to weaken party unity ahead of a crucial internal contest.
“When allegations you make turn out to be false, you expose yourself as a liar and a deceiver of the public. That is not leadership,” he warned.
Mounting a firm defence of the former Vice President, Rev. Fosu Nkrumah stressed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s character and political record stand in sharp contrast to the allegations.
“Dr. Bawumia is a man of peace. Despite persistent insults and personal attacks, including those directed at his wife, he has never retaliated.
He has remained calm, focused, and disciplined in pursuing his political ambition,” he said.
He concluded by calling on all aspirants and their supporters to allow the NPP’s 2026 internal presidential primaries to be decided by ideas, integrity, and the free will of delegates, not intimidation, violence, or fabricated propaganda.
