The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, joined Vice President of the Republic, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and a host of dignitaries at the Manhyia Palace to mark the one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Amoakohene described the ceremony as a solemn occasion that united key figures in Ghana’s political and traditional leadership in mourning the revered Queen Mother.

Among the prominent attendees were Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, National Chairman of the NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary Fiifi Kwetey, Minister for Local Government Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, Ahafo Regional Minister Hon. Charity Gardner, Minister for Works and Housing Hon. Ken Adjei, and various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“We joined His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the entire Asanteman to mourn the passing of our revered Queen Mother, whose life of dignity, wisdom, and service remains a blessing to our nation,” Dr. Amoakohene wrote.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who served as Asantehemaa, was widely respected for her dedication to tradition, community development, and cultural preservation. Her passing has been met with an outpouring of grief across the Ashanti Region and beyond.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” the Regional Minister concluded.

The event marks a key moment in the traditional mourning process, with further rites expected in the coming weeks.
