Earlier, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, MP for Bantama, has called on the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to take full responsibility for managing the four AstroTurf pitches in Kumasi—located at Bantama-Lebanon, Kokooase, Bohyen, and Ohwim.
During a courtesy call on the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang the MP emphasized the need for proper management of these facilities to ensure longevity and maximum community benefit. He was joined by assembly members from the Bantama Sub-Metro and other stakeholders.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye congratulated the Mayor on his appointment and pledged his support for Kumasi’s development, regardless of political differences. He also urged the Assembly to prioritize the construction of markets at Abrepo, Bohyen, and Ohwim to stimulate local economic growth.
In addition, he highlighted the need for improved street lighting across the city to enhance safety at night.
In response, the Mayor assured the MP that the Assembly will evaluate the current state of the AstroTurfs and take appropriate action. He added that the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) would support market and borehole projects, and announced that Prefos Ltd. has been engaged to assess Kumasi’s street lighting system.
The Mayor expressed appreciation for the MP’s visit and reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Kumasi and Asanteman.
