Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E Victor Emmanuel Smith, has urged Ghanaian church leaders in the United States to continually remind their congregants about their heritage and encourage them to maintain a strong sense of patriotism and national pride toward Ghana.

According to the Ambassador, the Ghanaian diaspora, particularly faith-based communities has a critical role to play in supporting Ghana’s development agenda.

He therefore encouraged church leaders to motivate their members to connect with organizations and individuals interested in investing in Ghana.

He noted that such partnerships could help create jobs for the country’s growing youth population and contribute meaningfully to national development and economic growth.

Ambassador Smith also requested prayers for his team as they travel across the United States to promote Ghana’s investment opportunities and strengthen relations between Ghana and the U.S.
He expressed confidence that the outreach efforts would produce long-term benefits for Ghana.

The appeal was made during the 2026 Annual Ambassador’s Breakfast Meeting with the Council of Ghanaian Pastors and Churches (COGPAC-USA), held at the Embassy of Ghana in Washington, DC.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Smith emphasized that nation-building extends beyond politics and should be embraced as a shared responsibility by all citizens, including religious leaders.
“Nation-building is not only political; it is spiritual, it is service. It is stewardship,” he stated, encouraging church leaders to see their role as part of the broader effort to support Ghana’s growth.
Leaders of COGPAC-USA, in response, outlined plans to support the initiative and pledged to use their networks and influence to help attract American businesses and investors to Ghana.
The engagement forms part of the embassy’s broader strategy to strengthen ties with the Ghanaian diaspora and harness their support for Ghana’s socio-economic development.
