The Central Regional Director for the National Service Secretariat, Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah has falsified claim that the NSS is indebted to service persons.
He has indicated that there is nothing like two months (June and July) arrears.
According to him, the allowance for the month of June is the only outstanding arrears and has assured they will be paid this week’s Wednesday.
“All service persons will receive their arrears by Wednesday”.
Speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of the formal inauguration of the Ashanti regional 2024 Campaign Working Committee and Women Conference held in Kumasi on Sunday, Mr. Alex Opoku Mensah underlined the shift from E-switch Payment to Ghana Pay as the cause of the delayed payment of the service allowance.
“Technically we don’t owe them and we are not going to owe them”.
Sounding more political in his words, he lambasted detractors for critiquing NSS under the present governance of NPP.
He bragged that the NPP government has done marvelously well than any government so far as National Service is concerned.
“When we took over from NDC what was the allowance?
It was GHs 350 and for 8 years Mahama never increased it.
Akufo-Addo came in 2017 and increased it from GHs 350 to 550.
Then in 2022, we increased it from 550 to GHs 715. All these records are there but you will not say it but you only come and ask me why the allowance has delayed”.
Me. Alex Opoku Mensah said that “allowance delayed is far better than allowance not increased and not paid. We are paying and I have told you we don’t owe them July. It’s June.
Read my lips, by next week Wednesday, you will see them getting their monies. We don’t owe them”.
