Former Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances ahead of the upcoming by-election in Akwatia, scheduled for September 2.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as “Napo,” detailed his participation in a campaign rally alongside party leadership and supporters to drum up support for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Solomon Asumadu.

“I was with fellow patriots and New Patriotic Party (NPP: Development in Freedom) leadership to rally for support on the streets of Akwatia ahead of the September 2 by-election,” he stated. “The energy and solidarity on the ground reflect not just our strength as a Party, but the resounding support for our candidate, Solomon Asumadu.”

The by-election follows the vacancy of the Akwatia parliamentary seat, prompting political parties to intensify their campaigns in the constituency. Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s presence in Akwatia underscores the importance the NPP attaches to retaining the seat.

Party members and supporters reportedly turned out in large numbers during the rally, showcasing unity and enthusiasm for the campaign. The NPP leadership has emphasized the need for continued grassroots mobilization to secure victory in the polls.

The Akwatia by-election is expected to be closely contested, as political parties make their final push to win over constituents.
