The Minority Caucus of the NPP in parliament has donated GHs 200,000 to support traders who were affected by the Adum-PZ fire disaster.
The support was offered on Monday; a time the caucus paid an inspection visit to the area to assess the level of damage and also comisserate with the traders.
Addressing the gathering of traders after the inspection, Hon. Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader disclosed that the GHs 200,000 is an accumulated amount on contributions by NPP Members of Parliament who make up the minority Caucus.
The money was presented to the leadership of the traders by Hon. Jerry Ahmed, the 2nd Deputy Minority Whip.
“This is just the begining”, Hon. Afenyo Markin told the traders.
Still in his address, he urged the NDC-led government to support the victims the same way it does to traders in other parts of the country.
“Looking at the effect of the situation that we find here, obviously the traders are suffering.
We know the commitment government made in some other areas.
We urge the government to take funds from the contingency fund and immediately and without delay, come to the rescue of suffering traders of Adum”.
