Chairman for United Zongo for Bawumia has assumed a strong posture against calls urging Christians to vote for a Presidential candidate who belongs to their Faith.

He has described reason given in defense of the foregoing that Ghana is a Christian country and therefore needs a Christian president as immaterial.

Chairman Abdul Aziz a.k.a (Chairman Soja) asserted in press briefing that, the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Ghana should not be marred by politics, saying that “Muslims and Christians are brothers”.

Furthering his defense, he flashed back an Islamic history on how a group of Muslims who came under tough persecution in Makkah were instructed by Prophet Mohammed to seek protection from a Christian King in Abyssinia.

He recalled in his narration that, after their (Muslims) arrival in Abyssinia, persistent requests by the persecutors that the then king of Abyssinia should expel the Muslims back to Makkah were turned down.

“The persecutors called on the King of Abyssinia by the name Negus to expel Muslims but he refused to hand them over on his land”.

Inferring from the above precidence, he reiterated that Christians and Muslims are one.

“A vote for Bawumia is a vote for a Christian”, he said.

He admonished that as the then King of Abyssinia (a Christian nation) accepted and offered protection for the Muslims, Christian in Ghana should accept the presidential candidature of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia by voting massively for him in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
