The Ashanti Regional Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have condemned the GHs 50 million bail imposed on Mr. Benard Antwi Bosiako a.k.a Chairman Wontumi by EOCO.
Addressing the media on Friday, they requested for reasonable bail terms, challenging EOCO to exercise its discretion in a judicious manner by reconsidering its bail terms as it’s within their discretionary power to do so.
They are pushing for fairness and transparency in the handling of the case, stating that “granting reasonable bail terms is part of fairness so that Bernard Antwi Boasiako can have his liberty to adequately prepare for his defence if any, and also seek medical care from his trusted medics”.
Speaking to the media in a defensive posture, the Ashanti regional secretary for NPP, Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah said members of the party believe Chairman Wontumi is innocent of charges and allegations levelled against him.
“To test our belief, let reasonable bail terms be extended to him to gain his freedom, so that before the court admissible evidence would be taken which at the end of the day our position that he is innocent of the allegations would be vindicated”, he reiterated.
