Spread the love

By Enock Akonnor (Managing Editor)

In the wake of the tragic passing of Ghana’s former Minister, Hon. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Communication Hon. Samuel Nartey George has shared a deeply emotional message on his official Facebook page, mourning the loss of his close friend and colleague.

In a tribute that reads more like a personal letter than a political statement, Hon. George reflected on the absence of Dr. Boamah during a recent campaign visit to Akwatia, a place where, just months earlier, their political partnership had been on full display.

“Yesterday, I went to Akwatia to campaign for our beloved NDC. We stand a fantastic chance to annex that seat.
However, something felt off for me. You were missing. The last time I underwent such an exercise was Assin North and we were each other’s shadows.”

The message underscores the deep personal and professional bond the two shared  from coordinating campaign strategies to walking side-by-side in critical political battles.

Dr. Omane Boamah, a respected public servant and former Minister of Defense, tragically lost his life alongside several others in a military helicopter crash in early August.

His death has sent shockwaves across the country, particularly within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), where he was both a seasoned voice and a unifying figure.

Hon. Sam George, widely regarded as one of the NDC’s outspoken men, closed his tribute with a solemn promise:

“I miss you. We all do. We would do this for you. Rest In Power!”

The message has resonated widely on social media, with thousands reacting to the post, praising its sincerity and emotional depth. Many have hailed it as a powerful reminder of the personal toll of public service, and the enduring human connections that often go unseen behind the scenes of political life.

As preparations continue within the NDC ahead of the 2028 general elections, Hon. George’s tribute serves as both a moment of mourning and a rallying cry, committing to carry forward the legacy of a man who gave his all to the cause of national progress.
