Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bryan Acheampong, was among the dignitaries who gathered in Kumasi yesterday at Manhyia palace to mark the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Acheampong described the event as a “significant gathering” that underscored the “deep respect and reverence” held for the late queen mother.

“Earlier today (Thursday), I joined Kumasi for the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III. It was a significant gathering that reflected the deep respect and reverence in which she is held,” he wrote, accompanied by the hashtag #AsantemanMourns.

The one-week observance is part of traditional rites within the Asante Kingdom, marking an important moment of mourning and remembrance for a revered figure in Asanteman.

Nana Konadu Yiadom III served as the Asantehemaa until her recent passing, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, cultural stewardship, and maternal strength within the royal family.

Dr. Acheampong’s presence at the ceremony adds to the growing list of political leaders and public figures paying tribute to the late queen mother, highlighting her impact not only in traditional circles but across national life.

Further details about the final funeral rites are expected to be announced by Manhyia Palace in the coming weeks.
