

Graphic Showbiz has confirmed that highlife musician Charles Kojo Fosu, commonly known as Daddy Lumba is dead. He died at the Bank Hospital in Accra at dawn on Saturday. He was 60 years old.

As of 1pm on Saturday, many people had gathered at Daddy Lumba’s residence at East Legon in Accra.

The singer-songwriter and musician has more than 30 albums to his name and widely regarded as one of the greatest Ghanaian musicians of all time.
The family has since through a legal representative put out an official announcement to confirm the passing of Daddy Lumba.

“With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana’s beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness,” the statement signed by counsel for the family said.
“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience,” it added.
“During this time of immense loss, we respectfully request privacy for the family and loved ones as they navigate this profound grief. Details of funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days,” the statement signed by Fati Ali Yallah counsel for the Fosu Family from Baba Jamal & Associates indicated.
