In a candid and intense interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), addressed growing concerns about the behavior of Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC. Kodua did not hold back, labeling Abronye as “undisciplined and arrogant,” and warned that such conduct could bring serious consequences within the party.

Kodua confirmed that the NPP’s National Executive Council had received formal complaints about Abronye’s inflammatory public remarks, which many in the party see as harmful to its image. According to Kodua, the leadership has discussed the issue at length and intends to issue a final warning to both Abronye and Deputy Communications Officer Ernest Owusu Bempah for what he termed “acts of indiscipline.”

“If you hold a position in the party, your words matter. You must be mindful of your public statements,” Kodua cautioned.

He further stressed that the NPP would no longer tolerate actions that disrupt party unity and discipline, regardless of a member’s influence or popularity. He made it clear that repeated misconduct would be met with sanctions, signaling a stricter approach to internal party discipline.
Abronye, however, is not backing down. In a statement dated June 25, 2025, he denied receiving any official summons to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee and dismissed the entire process as a “kangaroo court.” He asserted his right to speak freely and accused party leadership of hypocrisy and selective discipline.

“I will not be silenced. I will keep speaking my mind, even if it costs me my position,” Abronye stated defiantly.
The public fallout between Kodua and Abronye has sparked debate both within the NPP and among political commentators. While some applaud Kodua’s firm stance as necessary to restore discipline and credibility, others view Abronye’s resistance as indicative of deeper internal rifts within the party.
As the NPP heads toward elections and internal reorganization, how this power struggle unfolds could significantly influence the party’s direction—and test whether discipline and unity can overcome dissent and division.
