The Kumasi Council of Christian Churches (KCCC) has advised the pubic to avoid turning up in party colours at the upcoming National Prayer and Thanksgiving program slated for Tuesday, 1st July, 2025.

Owing to the content and significance of the event, leadership of the council has announced that though there is no strict dress code, apparel must be something decent and should be devoid of party colours.

Rev. Dr. Douglas Okonah Frimpong, General Overseer for Center for Christian Outreach Ministries gave the above notice at a press briefing held on Tuesday, at the Kumasi St. Cyprians Church.

Rev. Dr. Okonah, who is also Chairman for the Planning Committee explained further, that the program is purely a church service and therefore expect Ghanaians to give it the reverence it deserves.

“I don’t expect anyone to turn up in party colour or colours. We will be holding a church service and pray to God.
It’s not about politics.

My humble plea is, if you have a party T-shirt or political paraphernalia, please hung it in the house. I want everybody to turn up with a good heart.

That is not the place to do politics”, he reiterated.

Purpose of Event

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving seeks to foster unity, seek divine guidance and promote reflection on the nation’s progress and acknowledge God’s goodness.

Theme for this momentous occasion is “Reset, Reflect, and Renew for National Prosperity”

Still in his address, the clergy urged Ghanaians to join “this significant event, putting aside political differences to seek God’s favor and healing for the nation.

Let’s come together to pray, reflect, and renew our commitment to national development and social cohesion.”

Ashanti region’s version will be held at the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), behind Tech Police Station at 8:00 am to 10:00 am.

Islamic Prayers and Thanksgiving service for same region starts exactly 12:30 pm at the Kumasi Central Mosque.

Turning up at the media engagement were Emmanuel Opoku (Representative of the Ashanti regional Minister), Henrietta Konadu (Representative of the Kumasi City Mayor) among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Emmanuel Opoku remarked that, though efforts of government and the level of compliance exercised by the citizenry are partly the cause of the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by the country, the ultimate cause is the grace of GOD.

He indicated that, the latter is the reason President John Dramani Mahama coined the yearly National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving program.

Representative of Kumasi City Mayor, Hon. Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi reiterated the Mayor’s plea for prayers for Ghanaian youth and those entrusted with national duty.

She said the Mayor is in full support of the initiative and has much delight in the fact that the move is an integration of members of all religious faiths in Ghana.
