The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Charles Dwamena, also known as Dr. China, has called for an expansion of the party’s electoral college.
Per his recommendation, it should be made to cover all card-bearing members, former executives, patrons, party financiers.
“It should not be only delegates”.
He explained that all should be allowed to vote in every internal elections of the party to foster inclusivity and strengthen grassroots unity.
Dr. Charles Dwamena said on Oman FM that owing to logistical constraints, the party can roll out the open electoral college system systematically.
He expressed worry, saying a big party like the NPP should have adopted this system long ago for other parties to follow.
“This is non-negotiable. It is long overdue.”
“Doing this wil help the party expand its base in terms of electoral fortunes “, he added.
