The donation of GHs 200,000 by the NPP Minority caucus triggered an undertone of dissatisfaction from some of the affected traders at Adum-Pz and sympathisers.
The fire victims who turned up at the Adum blue light on Monday in anticipation of hearing an announcement of a gargantuan amount of money from the minority, started murmuring after the Minority leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin named GHs 200,000.
“The money is too small”, some traders and sympathisers mummured as Hon. Afenyo Markin spoke.
Response of traders was unlike the thunderous applause and loudy ovation that characterized earlier donations by individuals including the former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kwabena Kesse Esq. a.k.a “Kessben”, Hon. Muntakar Mubarak, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Hon. Yaw Adutwum, Richard Nii-Armah Quaye, Businessman Emmanuel Aboagye Contractor etc.
Sympathisers were bamboozled to the marrow when they realized that the amount is an accumulated contribution by all NPP Members of Parliament in Ghana and could not match up with GHs 500,000 that was given by an individual.
“This is too small.
A whole Minority Caucus paaa.
Members of a party that left governance few months ago and enjoyed power for 8 years?
So are they telling us that each MP could not contribute even just GHs 50,000?
If each had contributed at least GHs 50,000, they would have earned over GHs 900,000 for the affected traders”, one critique said.
