The award-winning Ghanaian highlife musician, Kwabena Kwabena, has expressed his disappointment with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regarding their treatment of him. He feels that the party has shown him a lack of respect over the years, particularly after he created a song for them.

In an interview on OKAY FM, the famous Ghanaian artist Kwabena Kwabena shared that the NPP has frequently used his song without his permission, altering it for their own needs without notifying him. He described this experience as painful, feeling that they have taken advantage of him.

“The NPP has taken me for a fool for a very long time. They used my music without my consent, went to the studio, and cut the song to suit their purpose. After that, they didn’t even tell me anything. It’s really unfair,” Kwabena Kwabena lamented.

The musician voiced his worries about how this situation has influenced public perception of him. He noted that because the NPP continues to use the song, many people mistakenly believe he is still associated with the party.

“People still think I’m an NPP because of what they do,” Kwabena Kwabena added.

He also mentioned that he prefers not to discuss the issue, as it is disheartening to see how the party has managed the situation. However, he felt compelled to speak out this time.

Kwabena Kwabena’s remarks have ignited discussions about the relationship between political parties and artists, highlighting concerns over intellectual property rights and the respect owed to creative works.
