Officials of MTN Ghana have distributed hampers to babies born on 25th December, 2024 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital.

They were presented to 22 mothers of the newly born babies at the maternity wards and those at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Same gesture was replicated in other 16 hospitals within the Northern sector alone, recording a total of 260 baby hampers.

The move happened on Thursday, 26th December, 2024.

It forms part of MTN’s commitment to spreading joy and making significant difference in the lives of the new mothers and their precious “Christmas babies”.

In all, 600 baby hampers was donated nationwide by the telecommunication company covering a total of 30 hospitals.

MTN Ghana has been doing this since 2011 and has until date distributed 3,500 baby hampers.

Each hamper typically includes items such as blankets, clothing, diapers, shawls, towels, toiletries etc.

Charity Darko, Corporate Affairs Manager, MTN Northern Business District who led the team told newsmen that the gesture forms part of MTN Foundation’s flagship projects.

She said the Foundation is glad celebrating the occasion with them especially seeing them having a safe delivery “at this joyous time of the year.”

Madam Charity indicated that the expectation was that the donation would cushion beneficiaries in terms of financial burden that comes with childbirth.

Gifty Serwaa Adu, Nurse Manager, Mother and Baby Unit at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital thanked MTN Ghana for the support.

She described the gifts as a great relief to the mothers, indicating that aside the challenge associated with the payment of the hospital bills, some of the mother lack the financial strength to make purchase of some of such basic items contained in the hampers.
