Kumasi, Ghana – As the country prepares for its upcoming general elections, the Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee has launched a peace advocacy campaign in selected Islamic Senior High Schools in Kumasi. The initiative aims to promote peaceful coexistence, prevent violence, and encourage young Muslims to become ambassadors of peace.

Led by Chairman Sheikh Mohammed Ridwan, the committee has visited several schools, including Al-Azariya Islamic Senior High, Nurul-AMEEN Islamic Senior High, Uthmaniyya Islamic School, and Tawheed Educational Complex. During these visits, students and teachers were reminded of Quranic verses and Hadiths that emphasize the importance of peaceful environments.

*Promoting Peaceful Coexistence*

The committee’s message is clear: young Muslims should uphold the values of Islam and become ambassadors of peace, rather than agents of violence. Sheikh Ridwan emphasized, “As Muslims, we are commanded to promote peace, justice, and compassion. We must work together to prevent conflicts and ensure a harmonious society.”

The committee’s efforts are particularly significant in the Ashanti region, where Kumasi is located. The region has experienced occasional tensions and conflicts in the past, and the committee’s initiative aims to prevent such incidents during the upcoming elections.

*Engaging with Stakeholders*

To ensure the success of their efforts, the committee is engaging with various stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, police, and political parties. They are urging all parties to play by the rules and maintain peace and harmony during the elections.

Sheikh Ridwan noted, “We are calling on all stakeholders to prioritize peace and avoid any actions that could jeopardize the stability of our country. We must work together to ensure a peaceful and successful electoral process.”

*Community-Based Peace Campaigns*

The Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee has been actively involved in community-based peace campaigns in the Ashanti region. They have completed a series of initiatives aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in local communities.

Their efforts have been well-received by community leaders, who appreciate the committee’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.

*Logistics and Materials Support*

To strengthen their operations and expand their reach, the committee is calling for logistics and materials support. They require resources to facilitate their peace advocacy campaigns, monitor the electoral process, and provide support to local communities.

Sheikh Ridwan appealed, “We urge individuals, organizations, and institutions to support our efforts by providing logistics and materials. Together, we can promote peace, stability, and development in our communities.”

The Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee’s peace advocacy campaign in Kumasi is a timely initiative that aims to promote peaceful coexistence, prevent violence, and encourage young Muslims to become ambassadors of peace. Their efforts are crucial in ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process in Ghana.
