His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio landed at Beijing International Airport on Monday, September 2, 2024, to participate in the 9th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). The couple’s arrival marks a significant moment as they join other African leaders to discuss and strengthen China-Africa relations.
Upon their arrival, the President and First Lady were welcomed with honors by senior Chinese officials, including representatives from the Chinese Communist Party, the Central Government, the Municipality of Beijing, and Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to China. The warm reception underscored the strong diplomatic ties between Sierra Leone and China.
The FOCAC 2024 Summit, scheduled from September 4 to 6, 2024, will focus on the theme “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future.” Key events include high-level meetings, an opening ceremony, artistic performances, and the China-Africa entrepreneurs’ conference, providing a platform to renew and enhance cooperation between China and African nations.
