President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio joined parishioners, clergy, and dignitaries at the St. Anthony’s Patronal Feast Celebration 2024, held at St. Anthony’s Parish, Savage Street in Brookfields.

The event honored the life and work of St. Anthony of Padua.

St. Anthony of Padua, born Fernando Martins de Bulhões, was known for his powerful preaching, scriptural knowledge, and devotion to the poor and sick.

These qualities contributed to his swift canonization. Venerated as the patron saint for lost items, St. Anthony’s influence extends far beyond Portugal.

The feast day began with a solemn Mass led by Father Emmanuel Kamara. The congregation participated in prayers, hymns, and reflections, honoring St. Anthony’s legacy.

This year’s theme, “Building A Vibrant Parish,” resonated in President Bio’s address. He emphasized the importance of fostering a strong sense of community within the parish, highlighting the need for peace, unity, and unwavering faith.

“As we gather here today,” President Bio said, “let us remember that our strength lies in our shared faith and our commitment to supporting one another.” Inspired by a beautiful rendition of St. Anthony’s legacy, read by the children of the parish, he encouraged parishioners to continue working together to strengthen their faith community and “build a vibrant Sierra Leone where our children can thrive on the foundation of education.”

The St. Anthony’s Patronal Feast Celebration 2024 served as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of faith, unity, and dedication. Attendees left the church grounds with a renewed sense of purpose and a commitment to building a stronger, more unified parish community.
