A mechanised borehole has been constructed for the people of Jarra Dasilame; a community that falls within the jurisdiction of Rohey Malick Lowe, Mayor for Banjul, the capital city of Gambia.

It was inaugurated in a grandstyle, graced by Counselor Tong Zhan of the People’s Republic of China.

He was the guest of honour for the occasion.

Together with the community, the Lord Mayor and the guest of honor celebrated with joy, following their advocacy on the importance of water which is one of REFELA’s priorities and is SDG 6.

In her statement share on her official Facebook page, Lord Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe thanked partners and friends of the People’s Republic of China through their embassy in the Gambia and all those who attended the inauguration.

“REFELA and its partners are more than committed to bring water right to the garden of every woman in the Gambia through our Water for Women initiative.

We understand the importance of water especially how it can empower women to enable them to gain freedom and have a voice in their communities”.
