

The Central Adoption Authority (CAA) has held its First Quarter Board Meeting, focusing on strengthening adoption systems and enhancing the protection of vulnerable children across the country.
Opening the session, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, highlighted the Board’s vital role in ensuring that adoption processes are conducted transparently and in the best interest of every child.


She stressed that the Authority is responsible for regulating adoption procedures, evaluating applications, and ensuring children are placed in safe and nurturing homes.
During the meeting, two new members were sworn into office, including the Ministry’s Chief Director, Marian Kpakpah, who now serves as Chairperson of the Board.

The Minister expressed confidence in her leadership and encouraged Board members to offer their full support to strengthen the Authority’s work.

The Minister further praised the Board for its dedication to upholding ethical standards in adoption and advancing the Ministry’s mandate of protecting children’s rights and welfare.


In her acceptance remarks, Dr. Kpakpah reaffirmed her commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and integrity in decision-making.
She emphasized the importance of a child-centred approach, noting that the Board will continue to work diligently to ensure every child is given the opportunity to grow in a caring and supportive family environment.
Also addressing the meeting, the Head of the Authority, Stephen Dombo, outlined the Board’s core functions, including oversight of adoption practices and ensuring compliance with national guidelines.
He reiterated the importance of ethical adoption procedures in safeguarding children’s futures.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions on improving efficiency, transparency, and coordination within the adoption system, as well as strengthening collaboration among stakeholders.
A major highlight was the recognition of Bright Appiah of Child Rights International, who received a citation for his exceptional contributions to child rights advocacy.
He was commended for his role in supporting the establishment of a childcare facility at the Ministry, providing a safe space for working mothers to care for their children.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by Board members to intensify efforts toward building a more efficient, transparent, and child-focused adoption system that ensures every child grows up in a safe and supportive home.
