Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States held a cordial and forward-looking meeting with officials of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as his first official engagement with the body.

The meeting, which brought together key stakeholders in trade and investment, focused on strengthening economic ties between Ghana and the United States, while highlighting Ghana’s renewed trajectory toward stability and growth.

The Ambassador used the opportunity to present Ghana as a viable and attractive investment destination, emphasizing ongoing economic recovery efforts and strategic reforms. He noted that Ghana is “getting back on its feet,” pointing to measures being implemented to meet debt obligations and restore investor confidence.

A major highlight of his presentation was the government’s flagship gold initiative, the GOLDBOD which he described as a transformative step toward maximizing value from Ghana’s natural resources. “We are taking deliberate, productive steps with our gold resources to ensure long-term national benefit,” he stated.

Ambassador Smith also underscored the role of innovation in Ghana’s development, citing the success of Zipline in revolutionizing medical supply delivery across the country. According to him, such advancements demonstrate Ghana’s readiness to embrace technology-driven solutions to address development challenges.

Officials from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the U.S.-Africa Business Center, including President Kendra L. Gaither, welcomed the engagement and outlined the institution’s role in facilitating trade, investment, and private sector partnerships across Africa.

They expressed readiness to support Ghana’s development agenda by connecting the country to American businesses and investors seeking opportunities on the continent.
