The Board of the Energy Commission, led by Professor John Gatsi, has officially welcomed Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission.

The meeting, held at the Commission’s headquarters, marked a significant leadership transition as Ms. Bondzie assumes responsibility for steering the institution’s regulatory and administrative functions.

Board members expressed confidence in her capacity to advance the Commission’s mandate and strengthen its role within Ghana’s evolving energy sector.

Discussions during the engagement centered on reinforcing the Commission’s position as an effective and proactive regulator.

Emphasis was placed on driving its core mandate through robust regulatory oversight and strategic initiatives across key focus areas.

These include enhancing energy efficiency standards, promoting the adoption and integration of renewable energy solutions, and strengthening oversight of Drive Electric Initiative (DEI) programme, Electric vehicle (EV) charging stations regulations as Ghana accelerates its transition toward cleaner energy alternatives.

The Board also underscored the importance of enforcing Electrical Wiring regulations across the regions to ensure safety, compliance, and improved service delivery.

Another key area highlighted was the need for intensified public communication.

The Commission aims to expand the dissemination of accurate and practical energy information to empower consumers, encourage responsible energy use, and support national sustainability goals.
